2008 St. Urbans-Hof Riesling Real tension and excitement in the nose of this wine, even if at a modest level in the range. Very cool and sculpted with a backdraught of minerality. With 35g/l sugar, it tastes just off-dry. This should please all palates, I would have thought, as it doesn´t take a strong position on residual sugar level. Finishes dry and appetising. (rated 16,5) 2008 Ockfener Bockstein Riesling Kabinett Introvert, very reductive but very commanding nose. Quite light and not very sweet. Pungent. (rated 16,5) 2008 Leiwener Laurentiuslay Riesling Spätlese feinherb More of that pungency with a strong layer of minerality this time. This could be a useful introduction to a drier, rather than dry, style of German wine.Just very slightly bitter on the palate. Quite long. (rated 17) 2008 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese Intensely mineral nose gives not hint of the rich fruitiness on the palate. This is extremely young. (rated 17) 2008 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Auslese Toasty, interesting nose with lots of lime fruit on the palate. And so much acidity that the richness is rather diguised.
